Competing in multiple programs in 2024, Nitro Motorsports is pleased to confirm Tyler Wettengel for a complete Toyota GR Cup North America effort this coming season. Making the move from karts to cars, Wettengel will look to fight for race wins and podium results when the season kicks off in April at the famed Sonoma Raceway.
“I am thrilled to return to Nitro Motorsports for a second season in Toyota’s GR Cup Series,” expressed Tyler Wettengel. “Competing in the inaugural season was tremendous, and we finished 2023 with strong momentum. I look forward to competing for wins and a championship with Nick Tucker, Team Nitro, and crew chief Matt Chambers.”
Team Owner Nick Tucker added, “Tyler progressed nicely through 2023 and finished the season strong. As a second-year driver, we are expecting big things from him and feel that he will be able to contend for race wins, and podium results, as well as the end-of-the-year GR Cup championship.”
Rolling through the offseason and with some additional test days planned, Nitro Motorsports and Tyler Wettengel will look for their first race win of the year when the season takes the green flag at Sonoma Raceway in early April.
Wettengel continued, “I am so thankful for the opportunity to compete in the GR Cup Series and can’t wait to hit the ground running as we prepare for the season opener in Sonoma.”
